JE series available for explosive atmospheres
KSB’s Luxembourg subsidiary, SISTO Armaturen S.A., has launched the new double-acting or single-acting pneumatic actuator from the SISTO-LAP-500 range.
French pump manufacturer, Jump, has certified its eccentric disc pump range, the JE series, for ATEX Zone 1 so that it now complies with the 2014/34/UE Directive on equipment and protection systems.
The JE series technology allows transfer of various fluids, liquids to viscous, for many industries such as the food industry, chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, energy and mines.
All pumps can be adapted for ATEX Zone 2 environments but the new series has been developed to meet the growing needs of handling flammable liquids or combustible materials.
The JE series pumps can be adapted for sensitive, abrasive or corrosive products and are also compatible with different types of connections (PN16 or PN20 flanges, hose barb, Clamp, SMS, DIN, MACON, etc.) allowing simple integration into existing facilities.
The piston actuator has been designed for valves (globe and gate valves) with a linear stem movement. A special technical feature of the new actuator is a double piston in tandem arrangement used for a variant designed for high actuating forces. This means that two pistons are operated along one rod in separate pneumatic chambers. The combination of a 500 mm diameter piston and a control pressure of 7 bar in a doubleacting actuator design allows actuating forces of more than 250,000 N to be achieved. The pistons are fitted with a disc with single-lip profile joint each. This configuration ensures smooth, low-friction movement. The piston
rod is sealed by a U-ring and a scraper ring. The air is routed internally so external tubing between the solenoid valve and the cylinder chamber is not necessary. The solenoid valve is connected to the actuator via a Namur interface. Now available for use in the potentially explosive atmospheres of Zone 1, the JE series pump is made to be conductive to prevent electrical hazards and is designed to protect against internal and external explosions. It also prevents overheating for secure use. The range currently comprises six sizes that can reach up to 96m3/h.
