NEWS Police appeal to victims to come forward n the UK the police are appealing for businesses that have been the victims of computer crime to come forward and provide vital information. The head of the Joint Action Group, Roger Gaspar, has said that investigations were being hampered because many companies are not admitting that they have been victims of chip t h e f t . " B u s i n e s s e s are not reporting computer crime, either because of insurance issues or because they don't believe they can do anything about it", he said. His comments came after the launch by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) of a video which informs firms about the dangers of computer crime, including chip theft by burglars and internal chip 'drift'. The video is available in two forms: one for managers and one for staff.

Loss Prevention Certification Board criticized whose computer security products have not yet C ompanies received approval to LPSI214 have levelled criticism at the Loss Prevention Certification Board. The aim of the standard is to evaluate products and give purchasers some predetermined assurance of the product's endurance and l o n g e v i t y u n d e r physical duress. People need to know that they are buying a product which will p e r f o r m to a set standard and they don't want to wait until the next robbery to find out if it will resist attempts at theft. The complaints have come from s o m e c o m p a n i e s who believe the tests are too stringent, however, other products have been certified.
