Post- Congress Journal Praised

T

he June 1991 post-Congress issue is truly a masterpiece. Even though I was unable to attend AORN’s 38th annual Congress, I did experience Congress, thanks to the entire Journal staff. The cover, with the very refined and creative hologram, is dramatic and inviting. The Congress story is beautifully written and illustrated. I really felt as if I was there in person as I read it all, page by page. The vivid portrayal of all aspects of Congress brought it alive for me. While my visit was vicarious, I offer my congratulations and thanks to the Journal staff for making me feel welcome as I shared Congress with those in attendance through the pages of the AORN Journal. Nurse Appalled by Support for Ferraro

I

recently had the pleasure of being a delegate to the 1991 AORN Congress in Atlanta. I was present at the General Session in which Geraldine Ferraro spoke. I would like to commend Mr Krassenburg for having the courage to stand up and be heard about his position on 446

abortion. I personally was appalled by the number of nurses who cheered Ms Ferraro’s prochoice position. Your article in the June issue of the Journal fails to mention that there were many who did not applaud her stand on the abortion issue. I think it is a shame that nurses who are committed to maintaining and improving the quality of life support the killing of unborn children. 1 think we need to be the patient advocate to all of our patients including the unborn.
