DRAG-FINISHING
SYSTEM
USF Surface Preparation Group, Walther Trowal Div., Heber Springs, I Ark.
Drag fmishing was designed to replace costly, large-scale manual operations. A standard Walther Trowal TMD Draw Finishing machine consists of a stationary work bowl and a rotary turntable with one rotating satellite station for fixtured work pieces. Sophisticated, useroriented features include infinite speed adjustment for the satellite station, separate drive of turntables and satellite station, and a programmable control center. Options for multiple tooling positions and multistage processing add to performance flexibility. The systems can be adapted to work with custom-made modular systems. EKCKANGERS
Chemineer Inc., North Andover, Mass.
Chemineer’s Kenics Heat Exchangers are equipped with streamlined Kenics Static Mixer March 2001
elements. The high-performance thermal units offer maximum transfer rates even with highly viscous, difficult-to-process materials. Used in a wide range of process applications, the heat exchangers require less space, less energy, and less time process than other designs. Features include design pressures to 10,000 psi; construction from all metals and alloys; special connections and fittings; X-ray, hydro, dye penetrant, and halogen testing; and ASME/TEMA compliance. COATING
Birchwood Casey, Eden Prairie, Minn.
Net shape, high-strength powdered metal parts can be attractively blackened, quickly and economically, with the safe, room-temperature Presto Black System. The easyto-use process, with a special zero discharge of heavy metals feature, coats porous, powdered metal parts with a uniform, nondimensional black finish that has high corrosion resistance (1,200~hr humidity tested). The process doesn’t streak or cause salt bloom on these types of parts as hot oxide processes often do. The finish process itself is performed quickly and easily in batches and large quantities using an existing tank line or one of Birchwood Casey’s space-saving, modular tank systems. VERTICAL
PUMPS
Sethco Div., Met-Pro Corp., Hauppauge, N.Y.
Sethco offers specially designed CPVC vertical pumps to meet the needs for OEM products. Rigid corrosion-resistant panels can be added to any of Sethco’s 14 models to allow easy mounting on any OEM installation. The panel also stabilizes the discharge pipe eliminating pipe stress. Sethco ZDX/ ZKX series vertical pumps are built for heavy-duty continuous pumping of acid and alkaline solutions (pH O-14) and other corrosive liquids at temperatures as high as 210°F. Models range from 1/20hp for flows to 10 gpm to 7% hp for flows to 190 gpm. Features include a new high-strength rigid one-piece molded pump body to ensure extended pump life. neering, Bergamo, Italy. The purpose of the alliance is to bring to the U.S. three new system designs for production powder coating. The unique format of these systems enables exceptionally high-efficiency powder coating of two specific types of material: aluminum extrusions and mediumdensity fiberboard. Included is Compact, a system for coaters who apply 330 to 880 lb/l-n. Compact provides exceptional film consistency, allows ultrafast color and uses minimal changes, floorspace. A horizontal-design system accommodates throughput of 1,300 to 2,200 lb/l-n and material up to 24 ft in length. The vertical-design system has a capacity of 2,200 to 4,400 lb/hr.
