Eastern European paint market posts uneven performance as recovery beds in Poland is the biggest paint and coatings market in Eastern Europe (excluding Ukraine and Russia). According to Euromonitor International, the Polish paint market expanded by 2% in 2015 and is expected to grow by 2.2% to €289 M in 2016. Growth is driven by the decorative paints segment, which increased by 2.1% to €251 M in 2015 and is predicted to expand by 2.3% to €256 M in 2016. AkzoNobel, Tikkurila Oyj, Sniezka and PPG Industries dominate Poland's paint market. In 2015, Sniezka posted an 8% year-on-year growth in revenues to €128.5 M and an 18% growth in profits to €11.4 M. The increase was nearly entirely attributed to domestic sales as export revenues fell in Russia (-24.6%), Belarus (-28.6%) and Ukraine (-14.2%). Poland's exports of varnishes, paints, lacquers and other pigments declined by 0.4% (Euro terms) in 2015 and 6.9% to 362,452 tonnes in volume terms. Exports to other European Union (EU) nations increased by 10%, while exports to all other non-EU eastern and central European countries dropped by 20%. In the Czech Republic, the paint and coatings market was valued at approximately CEK 11 bn ($459 M) in 2014, a year-on-year increase of around CEK 800 M ($33 M). Imports represented over CEK 9 bn ($376 M) of sales, with the members of Association of Paint Manufactures of the Czech Republic (AVNH CR) supplying around 30% of total domestic demand.
