The National Exhibition Centre now being constructed near Birmingham and due to be operational in February 1976 is an ideal venue for IPHEX for many reasons. The seven hall complex will provide the most modern exhibition facilities in Europe consisting of more than 90,000 m= of covered exhibition space. Accommodation and car-parking facilities should prove ample.
Thanks to the siting of the centre in the heart of Britain, communication with the site is unique. The centre is virtually surrounded by Britain's motorway system giving easy access by road to any quarter of the country, British Rail's new Birmingham International railway station on site will provide links to Britain's main cities, and Birmingham Airport is adjacent to the centre providing internal and European flights.
For exhibitors the National Exhibition Centre has been tailor-made with, for example, each hall having its own restaurants and bars attached, plug-in under-floor systems to carry electricity, gas, waste disposal, compressed air and telephone links thoughout each hall, and large, electrically operated doors so placed to provide easy lorry entrance and exit to halls and stands.
