During the period from lY% to 1951, l&5 cases fulfilling the criteria for tlrc diagnosis of eclanlpsia were seen at the St. Louis Maternity liuspital. Five cases of eclxmpsin superimposed on existing hypertrllsion or chronic ~Jolllerlllonepllritis are excluded fr,,r,l tl,,, series.
