productnews Process micro filter combines backwashing and ultrasonic technology to extend operating life The Type 25 micro filter system from Faudi combines backflush pulses and ultrasonic cleaning technology to ensure a thorough cleaning of the integrated depth filter after each use, dispensing with the need for one-way filter cartridges and continuous production stoppages for filter change-outs. The result, according to the manufacturers, is longer lasting filters, leading to reduced operating costs, personnel costs and environmental waste. Highly porous stainless steel depth filters, which utilize a sintered fibre composite component, are used on the Type 25 system to separate particles down to 1 µm. The system has been designed to recycle process media or for product filtration in the chemical industry. Recycling applications include separating grinding particles from demineralized water, sludge from phosphate bathes and algae from cooling water. Depending upon application parameters, such as feed concentrations and particle consistency, the filter consists of up to ten modules designed for a maximum flow rate of 150 m3/h. Faudi supplies the standard filter unit as flange to flange equipment for modular construction. The modules, containing the filter elements and the ultra sonic cleaning equipment are connected with a central feed, filtrate and backwash pipes. After reaching the maximum differential pressure of 0.25 bar the modules are backwashed with filtrate one after the other, while the rest remain in operation. The process is fully automatic.

The stainless steel construction materials allow for high temperature applications and can withstand corrosive media. Contact: Faudi Process, Faudi Filter Systems GmbH, Scharnhorststrasse 7, D-35260 Stadtallendorf, Germany. Tel: +49 64 28 702 0; Fax: +49 64 28 702 199; Website: www.faudi.de
