krnatio&l
Publication of a new Journal entitled “Progress in Organic Coatings’- will be assumed this year by Elsevier Sequoia, a member of Associated Scientific Publishers. “Progress in Organic Coatings” will be a review journal summarizing and analyzing the progress and current state of knowledge in the field of organic coatings and related subjects (chemical, physical, and technological properties of organic coatings and related materials, problems and methods of preparation, manufacture and application of these materials, as well as performance and testing)_ Topics to be covered in the first volume include: adhesion testing, permeability, testing of corrosion resistance, adsorption of pigment surfaces, fireretardant coatings, tack of printing inks, watersoluble vehicles, and visco-elastic properties of coating films. The reviews will concentrate on subjects which have undergone significant development in recent years, they will be compikd by specialists having an intimate knowledge of the literature in their tieid. The result will not be a mere compilation of data, but a critica assessment of the published literature and at the same time a definition of the s-ate of the art. Thus, “Progress in Organic Coatings” will help technicians and scientists to keep updated on recent progress in the field of organic coatings without having to study the original Iiterature or abstract journals. This is of particular importance for those who do not have ready access to the entire literature or who do not have the time to study it_

The ~Mixing and Segregation of Solid Particles A one week course on “The Mixing and Segregation of Solid Particles” will be held at the University of Bradford from June 14-18, 1971. Lecture notes will be provided and a programme of social events will be arranged_ The course is intended for graduate scientists and engineers concerned either with industrial processes involving the mixing of dry particulate sohds or with the design of industrial solids mixers. Opportunities will be available for the discussion of industrial problems Application forms may be obtained from The Secretary, School of Powder Technology, University of Bradford, Bradford, BD7 IDP, Tel: Bradford 33466.
