International Journal of Psychophysiology 33 Ž1999. 1

Publication announcement: fast track report From the current issue the International Journal of Psychophysiology offers a new initiative. Short reports of significant new advances in the field will be published via a ‘fast track report’ process. These papers will consist of short empirical studies. They may be definitive studies which make a conceptual advance, or represent preliminary data of outstanding and timely significance to the readership and field of Psychophysiology. The Editorial Board will endeavour to referee the manuscripts within 10 working days. Special arrangements have been made by Elsevier, the publishing house, to publish the report in the next monthly issue, giving a publication lag from receipt of the accepted manuscript of only 12 weeks. By virtue of the now monthly publication of the Journal the new fast track facility will make the International Journal of Psychophysiology highly competitive for the communication of innovations in science in the fields of psychophysiology, cognitive neuroscience and neuroscience. The manuscripts should not exceed 4000 words including figures, tables, references, figure legends and abstract. Note that each figure and table

will take up approximately 250 words. The author should indicate that the manuscript is to be considered for fast communication and may indicate up to five referees who have specialist knowledge. In the accompanying letter the author should make the case for rapid communication. Results must be fully documented. An electronic version should be provided along with email address, fax and phone numbers. Three copies of the manuscript must be forwarded along with the matching diskette. An abstract is obligatory. In order to ensure rapid publication proofs must be faxed back within 24 h. Articles should be sent to either of the co-editors-in-chief.
