Publisher’s Notice After thirty years of editorial leadership, Professor Frits H. Sobels, who was highly instrumental in the inception of the journal by Elsevier Science Publishers in 1964, will step down from the chief-editorship of Mutation Research as of July 1993. Having worked together with Professor Sobels on the publication of over 300 volumes during that time, the Publisher wishes to express its profound gratitude to Frits Sobels for the dedication and inspiration which have established Mutation Research in its preeminent international position. Professor Sobels will continue to give the Publisher the benefit of his scientific advice and will continue working directly on the journal as editor with special responsibility for the acquisition of special issues which are of importance and interest to the readership. From July 1993, three executive managing editors will assume overall responsibility for the journal-these will be Jim Gentile (Holland, Michigan, USA), Paul Lohman and K. Sankaranarayanan (Leiden, The Netherlands), all of whom have already served the interests of Mutation Research for several years. The Publisher welcomes them to their new role and looks forward to working closely with them in the coming years.
Some changes to the managing editorial responsibilities for the individual sections also come into effect. These relate to the following sections: Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis (green section) and Environmental Mutagenesis and Related Subjects (blue section): J.M.
Gentile, K. Sankaranarayanan and B.W. Glickman (for molecular papers); Genetic Toxicology Testing (pink section): P.H.M. Lehman (European papers) and M.D. Shelby (rest of the world papers); Reviews in Genetic Toxicology (purple section): F.J. de Serres and J.S. Wassom; Mutation Research Letters (yellow section): S.M. Galloway and M.D. Shelby (all editorial board members of this section are receiving centres); DNA Repair (brown section: E.C. Friedberg, P.H.M. Lohman and H. Takebe; DNAging: Genetic Instability and Aging (red section): R. Setlow, T. Sugimura and J. Vijg. J. Ashby will serve as an advisory Managing Editor with special responsibility for continuing his column Current Issues in Mutagenesis and Carcinogenesis.
