The Pumpex dewatering product line will be promoted exclusively through distributors and international key accounts while the ABS product line and brand will be promoted through the ABS organization and its sub-distributors. “By maintaining the two product lines and product brands, along with a clear strategy in channel management, we intend to continue growing our presence in the dewatering market,” says Cardo Pump president Peter Aru.

PUMP SYSTEMS MATTER TO PUMP COMPANIES Thirty-three pump manufacturing and supplier companies, all members of the Hydraulic Institute (HI), are to lead a US National Pump Systems Educational and Market Transformation Initiative called Pump Systems Matter (PSM). The program will focus on pump systems education and outreach, addressing significant energy savings opportunities and total cost of pump ownership. The first PSM Organization Meeting will be held in conjunction with the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) Summer Study Program in West Point, New York. Pump Systems Matter membership will be open to utilities, market transformation organizations, government agencies, pump users, contractors, consultants, engineering companies, trade and professional associations, and others as well as North American pump manufacturers and suppliers of motors and drives, seals, couplings, bearings, housings, instrumentation and control systems and pump specific software.

FLOWSERVE, GE ENERGY IN BENTLY NEVADA ALLIANCE Flowserve Corp and GE Energy have formed an alliance making GE Energy a preferred supplier for Bently Nevada machinery protection and asset management solutions to Flowserve Pumps. Flowserve will use Bently Nevada technology for on-site and remote diagnostics. This agreement, which is being applied globally for all Flowserve Pumps locations, covers Bently Nevada brand transducers, machinery protection systems and software. “By sharing these new technologies, this alliance will enable us to better serve our customers’ needs for life-cycle cost management service from a single-source supplier,” said Tom Ferguson, president of Flowserve Pumps.

IN BRIEF • Sulzer Pumps has selected Intelliquip’s Intelligent Front-End to automate its front-end selling process. Intelliquip will provide its browser-based software to all Sulzer Pumps business units for the selection, configuration, pricing, and quoting of pumps, pump systems and auxiliary equipment. “The possibilities and the ease of use of Intelliquip’s Intelligent Front-End, along with the extensive pump industry experience of their technology team factored into our decision,” said Ton Büchner, president of Sulzer Pumps. • Boerger GmbH saw revenues increase more than 10% during 2004. The German rotary lobe pump manufacturer established two more subsidiaries last year and expects further international expansion in 2005. • Graeme Addie, vice president of engineering and research and development for GIW Industries Inc, based in Grovetown, Georgia, USA, has been named the Hydraulic Institute (HI) 2004 Member of the Year. “Graeme Addie was recognized not only for his efforts in professional and technical development at HI, but also for his proactive devotion to advancing the international slurry community, and the pump industry worldwide,” said Bob Asdal, executive director of HI. • India’s Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has voluntarily delisted its equity shares from the Ahmedabad Stock Exchange. • R&M Energy Systems has opened a new rod guide facility located in El Tigre, Venezuela.
