to prostheses. The value and limitations of clectrosurgcrqba r are discus& in d&ail. Indications for using electrosurgery in pedodontics and orthodontics are mentioned. One case only is cited to illustrate surgery in pedodontics. This refers to removal of overlying mucosa on permanent molars. (Jingival removal to facilitate banding teeth is advised to avoid interference and pain to the patient. While gingivectomy is mentioned for gingival proliferation in orthodontic patients, the indications and case reports are not given. Oringer contributed a valuable chapter which is, in fact, a digest from his text on Electrosurgery in Dent&try (Sunders, 1962). He lists the hazards that may attend oral surgical procedures as well as t,he favorable results in wound healing. Case reports are presented in his chapter on lingual frenectomy and alveolar extension. This text will bc of value to those who include electrosurgery in their practice. J. A. Salzma,nn

Basic factors in producing satisfactory x-ray films are explained. Each chapter is appended by a list of exercises which should prove of value to the dental assistant in the course of study or in instruction under the supervision of her employer in on-the-job training. Patient management, radiation prevention, and radiation confinement are presented. The placement of intraoral dental films is discussed. Extraoral radiographic technique is included, but cephalometric radiography is not mentioned. J. A. Salxm.mn
