Abstract available at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26747011 Editorial Comment: This is a clever study that associated the preoperative appearance of the scrotum with the surgery that followed. Patients with separation of the scrotal sac (bifid scrotum) required urethral plate transection to address the curvature during hypospadias surgery more commonly than those with a normal scrotum. Since curvature associated with hypospadias is a differentiator that results in worse outcomes, more realistic preoperative counseling may be necessary in boys with a bifid scrotum. Douglas A.
