HEJOURNALOFHAND SURGERY began publication in July of 1976 as the official publication of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. An affiliation was established with THE JOURNAL OF HAND SURGERY (British volume) in 1983 and in 1989, a combined five-year cumulative index of both journals became available covering manuscripts from both journals of the previous five years.
