Nagssugtoqidian Geology. J.A. Korstgard (Editor). Geological Survey of Greenland, 1979, Report 89, 146 pp., DKr 100.00. Proceedings of a seminar held at Aarhus, Denmark, 3--4 October, 1978. A state-of-the-art report consisting of 15 papers dealing with the geology of Proterozoic (ca. 1800 Ma) mobile belts of west and southeast Greenland. Presented are the latest results originated from fieldwork carried out by Aarhus University, Denmark, and Liverpool University, U.K., in cooperation with the Geological Survey of Greenland.

Origins o f Optical Activity in Nature. D.C. Walker (Editor). Elsevier, Amsterdam, 1979, 261 pp., Dfl. 110.00. Studies in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Volume 7. Proceedings of a Symposium held at the University of British Columbia, 5--6 June 1979. The 18 chapters deal with a variety of subjects, from q u a n t u m electrodynamics to synthetic organic chemistry and molecular biochemistry, and focus on an important aspect of the molecular evolution of the biosphere: the origins of molecular chirality and optical activity in nature. This b o o k adds to our understanding of the evolution of living matter on the earth in prebiotic times.

Terrestrial Rare Gases. E.C. Alexander, Jr. and M. Ozima (Editors). Center for Academic Publications, Japan Scientific Scieties Press, Tokyo, Japan, 1978, 229 pp., Yen 6000.00. Proceedings of a Seminar, held at Hakone National Park, Japan, June 28 to July 1, 1977. Advances in Earth and Planetary Sciences, Volume 3. The seminar dealt with "Rare Gas Abundance and Isotopic Constraints on the Origin and Evolution of the Earth's Atmosphere".
