FOCUS Fuel cell catalyst Very many metal catalysts have been claimed to be useful in the electrodes of fuel cells. This one is an unsupported alloy of platinum, gold, and chromium which is claimed to be exceptionally efficient in catalysing the electrochemical reduction of oxygen. is a hydrogen-transfer catalyst and the other is a metathesis catalyst. One of the inventors, Maurice Brookhart, is well known for having invented a variety of non-metallocene polymerisation catalysts. Regeneration of zeotype catalysts for MTO The MTO process for converting methanol to light olefins is catalysed by SAPO or ALPO4 zeotypes. These zeotypes need to be regenerated periodically by heating in air. It has been found that the air in coastal areas contains sufficient salt to
damage these catalysts. This patent describes several methods for removing this salt from the air, by washing the air, or by adsorption. US 7,902,100, UOP LLC, Des Plaines, IL, USA, 8 Mar 2011
