RELIABILITY E N G I N E E R I N G CENTRE (IIT) A centre for training and research has been started up for the first time at the IIT with effect from 1 July, 1983. The centre has full financial support from the Ministry of Education of the Government of India. The broad objective of the centre is to develop a strong base for research and training. The centre is offering a one and a half years' Masters Degree programme in the area of reliability engineering. This programme is open to all qualified practising engineers in any branch of engineering. This postgraduate course is also attracting the attention of engineers from other countries. Another major objective of the centre is to provide consultancy to private and public sector industries and Government organisations and to develop a close liaison with them for joint ventures in reliability studies.
