Pllt¢l Repositioning bases Installation, removal and replacement of components with sub-arc-second repeatability are possible with the kinematic bases from Newport. Each base also incorporates a patented rotating radial slot to allow mounting anywhere with any orientation on any table with 1 inch or 25 mm hole centres. Each base has a top mounting plate with an array of threaded holes which kinematically clamps to the bottom universal mounting plate with relocation repeatability better than one micrometre. Also available from the company

are precision vertical stages, which use two pairs of cross roller bearings (instead of conventional ball slides) and a precision-machined wedge block for vertical stages. The bearings run on hardened and ground steel ways to guide the wedge motion, resulting in high platform stability and parallelism ( < 0 . 5 arc-min mm -1 of travel), with vertical tracking accuracy (runout) better than 1 pm mm -1 of travel. Available in 6 mm and 13 mm travel versions, they are compatible with manual, motorized, or computercontrolled actuators. Long travel translation stage The class TCB200 long travel range translation stages have been added to the Klinger Scientific line of precision micropositioning components. The stages have travel ranges from 200 mm to 1 m with load carrying capacities to 200 kg. The units utilize a precision stepping motor and ball screw drive system and provide accuracies to the submicron realm. Optional accessories for the tables include a linear absolute encoder with an accuracy to 1 #m or an optical incremental encoder with an accuracy to 10/~m. The stages are suitable for applications requiring high speed and long travel under a large load. The units can be assembled to provide XY positioning and can be used vertically as well. They have a recirculating bearing system to ensure trajectory accuracy. Klinger Scientific Corp, 110-20 Jamacia Ave, Richmond Hill, New York 11418, USA
