Response to Letter to the Editor by Shen et al We thank Dr Lin and Li’s comments on our article (Am Heart J. 2013;166:1056-1062), and we appreciate the need to reconcile results from studies. However, a further subgroup analysis on the percutaneous coronary intervention patients in our CRUSADE sample still will not reconcile the numerous differences between our study and prior studies, in particular, the different availability of covariates for adjustment. We think the suggestion of potential interaction with race and smoking history is worthwhile but requires a more thorough investigation than can be presented here.
