ABSTRACT The summary of the rcsult.°• of the 1990 International Survey on Particle Tracks in Solids performed it, collaboration with the International Nuclear Track Society is presented. These results include the data on principal investigator(s), collaborator(s), institute, field of applicatlon(s), materials(s), and method(s) of track observation from 28 countries. INTRODUCTION Three decades after thc first observation of radiation damage in insulating materials (Young, 1958), the technique is widely used in very diversed fields such as archaeology, biology, geology, materials science, medicine, radiation protection, and space physicei in many laboratories around the world. The first survey on track registration carried out nearly 20 years ago (Griffith, 1973). In order to have more recent information o n the applications of particle tracks in solids and to put the researchers involved in ithis field, especially those in and from developing countries, in closer contact with each other, the International S u r v e y on Particle Tracks in Solids initiated in cooperation: with the International Nuclear Track Society. The Questionnaires were prepared in early. 1990, and distributed world-wide together with the 3rd Circular of the 15th International Conference on Particle Trucks J, Solids in June 1990. This paper presents the extract of the replies received by the cad of 1990. The deLailed results will be reported elsewhere. .REFERENCES Griffith, R.V. (1973).
