Mercaldo M. Medorrhinum. Review of clinical uses and listing in Kent's Repertory. Br Hom J 1996; 85: 149-60. Unfortunately several minor errors occurred both in the original copy and in the editing of this paper. They are: The G r e e k word ' d i a t h e s i s ' was used several times in the original to denote 'Pathol.--Constitutional predisposition' (Webster) to certain diseases rather than others. 'Miasm' or 'miasma' (as on page 152 under 'Congenital or acquired sycotic taint') is defined as 'foul-smelling emanations from decaying organic matter, formerly believed poisonous'. The term 'diathesis' was used to help break a barrier between homoeopathic and conventional medical colleagues. Unfortunately, 'diathesis' was sometimes replaced with 'miasm', or an extra 's' had slipped in to read 'diastbesis'. On page 150, part of the text from the end of first paragraph at the top of the page was lost in file transfer. It should be changed to read: 'Med ... in hot, humid weather, and lying prone, whereas Thuja has aggravation at night, in cold and humid weather, and is b e t t e r s t r e t c h i n g out and l y i n g supine. Natrum sulph ...' The name Lagros on page 150 should be Legros. Case 1 (page 151). A problem with the use of tenses has resulted in the sentence under 'Treatment' being misread by the editors. It
should read: ' O n l y two h o m o e o p a t h i c m e d i c i n e s were well indicated for the gonorrhoea in this case--Med and Sepia.' Case 4 ( p a g e 152), ' F a m i l y h i s t o r y ' , replace 'Father and his mother had cancer' with 'Father and maternal grandfather had cancer.' On page 155, 'Oligomenorrhoea' should have been numbered ' 8 ' , with ' M i g r a i n e ' (page 154) numbered '7'. In the second line u n d e r the ' O l i g o menorrhoea' heading, the first 'or' should be an 'of'. Case 9 (page 156) under ' T r e a t m e n t ' , 01/09/94, add 'per year' after 'influenza'. In the section on 'Asthma' (top of page 158) replace 'children of asthmatic parents' with 'children of sycotic parents'. Under ' R h e u m a t i s m ' (page 158), 2nd paragraph, 2nd line, read 'entries' (E) (102):' Table 1 (page 159) requires the following four corrections: Under No. of entries, Jerking--114, not 144. Under Thuja (2), Stiffness--01, not 10. Under Lyc (T), Jerking--13, not 10. Under Rhus-t (1), Inflammation--16, not 06. On page 160, --ref. 22, change 'Maline' to 'Maloine'; --ref. 24, change 'p. 2', to '29'; --ref. 26, change 'Jab' to 'Jahr'. Mauro Mercaldo and the editors
