Other Lonza Consumer Care announces exclusive relationship with Edmar for I&I laundry Lonza Consumer Care recently established an exclusive third-party relationship with Edmar Chemical for the industrial and institutional (I&I) laundry segment. Edmar will be the sole channel to market for Lonza Consumer Care's hygiene products sold into commercial laundry applications within the USA, Canada and Mexico. Excluding certain direct accounts, the agreement became effective 31 Oct 2016. Lonza's hygiene products include EPA-registered antimicrobial laundry treatments to control odour, destroy disease-causing pathogens during the washing process and provide residual protection to laundered fabrics. These products will complement Edmar's current laundry offerings. Edmar's deep knowledge and presence in the I&I laundry market will greatly extend Lonza's reach within this market segment.

According to P&G, the limited edition Head & Shoulders bottles will be sold by France's Carrefour in summer 2017. In addition, by end-2018 the European operation of P&G will provide >500 M bottles/y containing up to 25% of PCR plastic. No landfill for Unilever plastic packaging by 2025 By 2025, all of Unilever's plastic packaging will be fully recyclable, compostable or reusable. The firm's membership of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF) will be renewed for a further three years. By 2020, the company plans to decrease the weight of its packaging by 33%. By 2025, it aims to raise its usage of recycled plastic content in its packaging to around 25%. According to the EMF, recycling facilities process only 14% of the plastic packaging utilized globally, while 33% goes into fragile ecosystems and 40% into landfill.

BASF plans its first construction chemicals plant in Myanmar

BASF will build the first plant for its 'Master Builders Solutions' range of construction chemicals in Yangon, Myanmar in 2017.
Under the recently revised 2009 consent order with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), DuPont and its spin-off Chemours must further limit the perfluorinated chemical exposure of citizens near a chemical production facility in Parkersburg, WV, USA. The revised order states that the firms need to supply an alternative drinking water source for residents after perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) has been measured at 70 ppt in their piped-in drinking water. This reduced a threshold for such action of 400 ppt PFOA in drinking water that was set in 2009 and pursues the EPA's 2016 lifetime health advisory limit for the chemical.
