PATENTS Method for manufacturing a sealing device Applicant: NOK Corp, Japan The objective of this invention is to effectively prevent the formation of rust on a flange part. It also aims to prevent significant deformation of the flange part caused by the filling pressure of the moulding material during the manufacture of the sealing device. A seal main-body consists of a rubber-like elastic material and has a section that covers both surfaces of the flange part of a metal reinforcing ring. This is integrally formed on the reinforcing ring by means of a mould. To this end, the flange part of the reinforcing ring is formed in advance with a shape that is skewed in the direction opposite to that in which the flange part is deformed from its original shape (by the filling pressure of the moulding material). a second circular body, with a similar surface. When coaxially assembled, the circumferential surface and similar surface mate with each other to form a sealing surface contact. An internal end-face (33) of rotary seal (10) is exposed to fluids, with an inclination such that the fluid pressure on the internal end-face (33) adds to the contact force at the sealing contact surface. The first circular body (12) is continuous, whilst the second one contains a split (17), and possesses the characteristics of a spring, such that two ends formed by the split (17) are forced away from each other. This exerts a radial force on the circumferential surface when assembled with the first circular body (12), and compensates for circumferential wear during operation. The second circular body exerts a combination of axial, radial and tangential forces on circumferential surface, which results in forced closure at the sealing surface contact. Patent WO/2015/072471 provides details of a way of preventing leakage of grease associated with the “breathing action” of a bearing unit (1). The figure above illustrates the first embodiment of this invention – showing a sectional view (top) taken along the broken line (shown by single-dot chain-line AOB) in the bottom diagram, which depicts the end view.
“Swellable” seals and their use Applicant: Ruma Products Holding Bv, The Netherlands This invention focuses on “swellable” seals and their use. The associated patent details an elastomeric seal for sealing bore holes and the like. It consists of a fluid-swellable elastomer composition that is composed of an elastomer matrix, at least one fluid-soluble compound and at least one type of fibre. Applicant: Eagle Industry Co Ltd, Japan Details are provided of a divided mechanical seal. This design aims to improve assembly precision at a divided contact surface and workability during preliminary assembly. According to this patent, excessively precise mechanical processing is not required during the manufacture of the seal. The divided mechanical seal is characterised in that it is equipped with a through-hole that is formed across two divided seal rings, adjacent to each other, in the circumferential direction so as to pass through the divided contact surfaces of the two divided seal rings. A connecting means is inserted into the through-hole and connects the two divided seal rings. This connecting means comprises a LÌÆÊ>ÊÕÌÆÊ>`Ê>ÊÌÕLiÊvÌÌi`ÊÌÊÌ

Shaft seal Applicant: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft, Germany This invention relates to a shaft seal for reducing leakage between two fluid spaces separated by the shaft seal. In particular, it pertains to two gas-spaces arranged axially with respect to the shaft. The shaft seal comprises a plurality of flexible plate elements that are secured in a receptacle. The receptacle constitutes a first diameter of the shaft seal. The ends of the plate elements face away from the receptacle and define a second diameter. The plate elements have recesses at the ends, facing away from the receptacle, and have a first edge region and a second edge region – the second being wider than the first.
