Safety a priority with Launch of intelligent VFD modular LAS feed system to match system demand Integrity Municipal Systems, LLC (IMS), has recently announced the launch of its liquid ammonium sulfate (LAS) feed system. IMS is a US engineering company which designs and supplies preassembled, process solutions for the water and wastewater industry. The new system is compact and modular and it can be quickly installed to safely produce LAS. The use of liquid ammonium sulfate is increasing as a safe, economic alternative to aqueous ammonia. Unlike aqueous ammonia, LAS has an indefinite storage life, is odourless and nontoxic. The IMS two-tank upflow saturator and feed system technology can reliably and economically produce a 40% liquid ammonium sulfate solution from solid ammonium sulfate for approximately US $3.00 per gallon.
The custom-designed, modular LAS feed system for water processes is pre-assembled, factorypiped, wired and tested, with low installation costs and a typical installation time of only two hours. The compact design is environmentally friendly and ensures that safety is a top priority. The fully contained system eliminates any risk of liquid ammonium sulfate solution entering floor drains. www.integritymunicipalsystems. com/
Veolia had already gained valuable experience while working on Macallan’s previous wastewater treatment plant and the company carried out a wastewater characterisation study prior to the design of the new plant. The installation is based on the Idraflot dissolved air flotation (DAF) unit followed by a Biosep membrane bioreactor (MBR). The water treatment plant has built in www.worldpumps.com
Part of Xylem’s Lowara brand, the ResiBoost is suitable for a wide range of residential applications. It is a plug-and-play device designed for easy installation and use. Users can connect the VFD to water and electricity and set the desired pressure. The ResiBoost automatically controls the speed of the pump while keeping the pressure in the system constant, reducing energy consumption and preventing rapid changes of pressure from damaging pipes, junctions and valves.
It is available in pipe and wall mounted versions or, as a ready built package. The pipe and wall mounted versions have built-in dry run protection, a control and information panel featuring an LCD screen and are able to store information on operated hours, number of starts, connections to the power supply and register of alarms. www.xylem.com

Scottish distillery WWTP meets SEPA regulations Macallan owners, Edrington, commissioned the new distillery to expand its production and meet increased demand for Macallan single malt whisky. The distillery needed an enhanced wastewater plant on site to meet the SEPA regulations for discharge into the environmentally sensitive River Spey.
Water technology provider, Xylem, has released ResiBoost, an intelligent variable frequency drive (VFD) that matches system demand to maximize pump efficiency and minimize wear and tear.
future proofing and can be easily upgraded as demand increases. Edrington said that based on Veolia’s experience, the company had expected to achieve a good quality discharge well within the consent limits and that has been achieved. In addition the new plant has a much higher level of automation which means reduced operator involvement.
Cleaner pumping for food and beverage The Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group have launched the new MasoSine Certa pump, offering clean pumping for food and beverage industry applications.

MasoSine are the creators of Sine pump technology and the Certa pump will set high pumping standards in food processing. It is easy to clean and includes EHEDG (Type EL Class I) and 3A certification as standard. All contact parts on the Certa Sine pump are FDA and EC1935 compliant.

The pump delivers high suction capability to handle viscous products. Traditional pumps with rotors cut through fluid, but Certa’s sinusoidal rotor carries fluid through the pump to dramatically reduce shear while cutting power consumption by up to 50% with high viscosity fluids.
Engineers in food and beverage plants are frequently faced with pumping high viscosity products, and Sine pumps have been able to convey foods with viscosities of up to 8 million cP. The Certa completes the existing product range by offering users a fully CIP capable pump at flow rates up to 99,000 l/hr. Users can be assured that media is pumped safely and without degradation. www.wmftg.com
