MARKET PROSPECTS gas service company for a produced water application. The Voraxial 2000 System, designed to be installed on offshore platforms, will be utilised for the separation of oil and sand from produced water. “We are experiencing a greater volume of customer inquiries which is resulting in increasing sales and a growing pipeline of prospective projects. The sales are primarily from the oil industry and include both the Voraxial as a standalone and incorporated within a complete turnkey solution,” said John DiBella, chief operating officer of Enviro Voraxial Technology.

FW to provide CFB steam generators for Indian market

A

subsidiary of Foster Wheeler AG’s Global Power Group is to design and supply four circulating fluidised-bed (CFB) steam generators for Essar Power Salaya Ltd in India. Foster Wheeler will design and supply four 150 MWe (gross megawatt electric) CFB steam generators and provide site advisory and commissioning services for the project. The CFB steam generators will be designed to burn a blend of pet coke and coal while meeting applicable environmental regulatory requirements.

Earlier this year Fluor and GEH teamed on another similar project development agreement for new potential nuclear power plant projects in Poland (see Pump Industry Analyst, September 2011).

Jacobs wins EDF contract

acobs Engineering Group Inc has secured a four-year framework contract from Electricite de France (EDF) to provide owner engineering services for its gas infrastructure projects across Europe. Jacobs is providing a wide range of management, consultancy and design services relating to project management; permitting and administration; specifications and conceptual design; procurement; and supervision of construction. The scope of the framework project consists of infrastructure development for natural gas storage and distribution, including gas pipelines, underground storage facilities and regasification terminals.

Alstom plans Global Hydro Technology Centre in Brazil lstom is to invest around E6 million in a Global Technology Centre in Taubaté (SP), Brazil, where the company has its largest hydro factory. The Global Technology Centre - Taubaté will focus on Kaplan solutions for Alstom Hydro worldwide and will include an R&D team and a test rig. The R&D team will start its activities in Taubaté in early 2012 and the test rig is expected to be operational in mid 2013.

A Fluor partners with GE Hitachi for potential nuclear project in Finland

luor Corp has signed a project development memorandum of understanding with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) to pursue a potential new nuclear power plant project in Finland. Fluor would serve as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner with GEH as the Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) begins plans for building a fourth reactor. TVO is evaluating several different reactor technologies for the Olkiluoto-4 project including GEH’s Generation III+ Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) design. 4

Doosan secures Korea’s first IGCC demo plant project

oosan Heavy Industries & Construction has signed a US$453 million contract with Korea Western Power to construct Korea’s first Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) demonstration power plant.

appi Ltd has approved a US$170 million capital project to convert the kraft pulp mill in Cloquet, Minnesota to chemical cellulose. The planned conversion is expected to come online in 2013 and once complete will allow the production of 330 000 metric tons of chemical cellulose per year. Chemical cellulose is used in textile and consumer goods markets. Sappi will also undertake a US$13 million project to upgrade coated paper manufacturing at the Sappi Somerset Mill in Skowhegan, Maine. The capital project at the Somerset Mill includes upgrades to the existing gap former on PM3, improving its cost structure and allowing the production of a broader range of products on the machine. The PM3 rebuild project should be completed in autumn 2012.

MINING

Outotec supplies mining equipment to Chile & Russia utotec has signed a E26 million contract with Quadra FNX Mining Ltd for the design and delivery of a process solution for the new coppermolybdenum concentrator located in Sierra Gorda in northern Chile. Deliveries of Outotec TankCell e300 flotation cells, concentrate and tailings thickeners as well as filters are scheduled to be completed during 2012. Outotec will also provide installation, commissioning and start-up services for the delivered equipment. Outotec is also to deliver chemical preparation and dosing systems technology, reactors and agitators, thickening and filtration equipment and high pressure titanium piping with auxiliaries for an autoclave and hydrometallurgical plant that Outotec is supplying to Russia’s Petropavlovsk Group. The equipment will be delivered at the end of 2012.
