ScholaIS hips available for AORN members Members applying for scholarships will be considered for AORN-Edith D Hall scholarships, Purdue Frederick Fellowships, and Newhauser Memorial Award. Applications are to be submitted on the scholarship application form, which should be requested from: AORN Scholarship Board Education Department Association of Operating Room Nurses, Inc 10170 East Mississippi Avenue Denver, Colorado 80231

All applications, transcripts, letters of reference and other correspondence are to be submitted to the board a t the same address. The selection of scholarship recipients i s based upon the applicant‘s fulfillment of the outlined requirements, the individual’s motivation and personal goals, evidence of positive personal commitment toward educational growth, and the individual’s contribution to operating room nursing and the Association of Operating Room Nurses.

Requirements. 0 Application must b e received n o later than M a y 15 for AORN-Edith D Hall Scholarships for course work during the academic year and summer session. Applications for special fellowships (Purdue Frederick and Newhauser Memorial Award) must be submitted no later than January 15.

0 Applicant must b e pursuing a bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing, or advanced education (MA, MS, MSN, EdD, PhD, DNSc) in nursing or a related field which will complement the nursing profession.

0 The applicant must be a current member of AORN i n good standing. Membership must have been maintained a t least one year prior to the submission of application. Members of the National AORN Board of Directors during their elected term and AORN Headquarters personnel are ineligible. 0 The applicant must provide evidence of application for admission to an accredited program. Scholarship award i s contingent upon proof of acceptance by the institution.

0 The applicant must arrange for submission of official transcripts from all diploma and/or college educational programs. (Include all completed course work.) 0 The applicant must have an accumulated grade point average of 3.0 using a 4.0 point scale in diploma or undergraduate course work. If applicant does not meet this requirement, evidence (transcript of recent course work) which demonstrates that she (he) i s capable of maintaining a 3.0 grade point average at the college level will be considered. If student presents less than 12 credit hours toward the degree, the 3.0 must be in academic courses. Applicant will be expected to maintain an accumulated grade point average at the B level in order to qualify for funds for consecutive quarter or semester course work.

0 The applicant may apply for additional scholarships, if grade point average is maintained at the B level. 0 The applicant is responsible for having submitted in her (his) behalf three letters of recommendation, including at least one representing her (his) most recent work experience. Method of Selecfion. Applications will be reviewed semi-annually by the AORN Scholarship Board. Recipients of the AORNEdith D Hall Scholarships will b e notified by AORN. These funds are paid directly to the educational institution. Fellowships are awarded directly to the recipient. Names of the scholarship recipients will be published in the AORN Journal and announced at the annual Congress meeting of the Association.
