PATENTS al. The first material is oleophilic when configured on the seal side. Using the oleophilic material for the first material – when the first material is arranged on the seal side and, therefore, when in use it may face the rolling elements and ring (or shaft for an actuator) – contributes to the wetting property of the seal and ensures that lubricant is present between the seal and any moving elements that are in contact with the seal. Gasket to seal between cones in a wheel bearing Applicant: Fersa Innova Slu, Spain The invention relates to a sealing gasket (1) that is capable of providing a seal between cones in wheel bearings. It is described as having a cylindrical shape, and is made of rubber or a synthetic material. It includes, in the median portion, a projection that is intended to seal the joint between the inner rings (6 & 6.1) of an axial and radial bearing, preventing the entry of contaminating elements into the bearing. It is positioned in housing recesses made in the inner rings (6 & 6.1) of the bearings, which enable effective compression of the sealing gasket – being vulcanised in the inner diameter of a metal core, configured on one side with a pushing tab (4) and on the opposite side with an anchoring tab (5). According to the inventors, the seal has the advantage of being made of rubber or plastic, with a metal core – giving sufficient rigidity during assembly and ensuring the proper positioning of the seal between cones. A section detail of the mounting gasket that is described by patent WO/2015/092099. An advantage of this design is that it is made from rubber or plastic, with a metal core – giving sufficient rigidity during assembly and ensuring the proper positioning of the seal.

Elastomer seal for a motor vehicle door Applicant: Peugeot Citroen Automobiles Sa, France An elastomer seal (10) for sealing between a motor vehicle door and the body shell (11) of this vehicle is described by this patent. This seal consists of a part (12) that is intended to be applied to the body shell (11) using a clip (13). The latter clips into a hole (14) made in the body shell (11). The part (12) comprises two lips (15) that press against the body shell on each side of the hole (14). A characteristic of this approach is that the lips (15) are made from an adhesive material that is either separate from the elastomer from which the rest of the seal (10) is made and not cured at the temperature at which the elastomer is vulcanised, or identical to this elastomer, but prevented from curing during vulcanisation of elastomer, so that the material remains adhesive. The aim is to create a watertight seal that has enhanced properties. Patent number: WO/2015/092190 Inventors: F. Mauvais and S. Lukasiewicz Publication date: 25 June 2015

end coupled with a portion of the second clamp member. Each coupler is configured to displace each connected clamp member portion, generally, axially, towards the other clamp member portion in order to compress an inner portion of the base, to displace an outer portion of the base (generally radially outwards). In doing so, the base outer surface engages with the housing inner surface to create a seal. Patent number: WO/2015/095551 Inventors: Y. Epshetsky and J.M. Dominguez Publication date: 25 June 2015

Thermoplastic polyurethane for seal applications Applicant: Carl Freudenberg Kg, Germany This invention relates to a thermoplastic polyurethane that is obtained through the reaction of isocyanates with a polyol component – comprising at least one polyester diol, at least one polyether diol and at least one polycarbonate diol, in each case with a molar mass of 500–5000 g/mol, and also with at least one diol with a molar mass of 62–500 g/mol. This invention further relates to the use of this thermoplastic polyurethane for producing mouldings, more particularly seals, coupling stars, valves and profiles. The polyurethane described by this patent has exceptional mechanical and chemical properties, claim the inventors. Patent number: WO/2015/090916 Inventors: J. Hieber, E. Freitag, M.F. Goerres, M. Low-energy seal for a substrate carrier An elastomer seal for a motor vehicle door forms the subject of patent WO/2015/092190.

Seal assembly with expandable sealing member Applicants: Aktiebolaget SKF and Y. Epshetsky – USA A seal assembly has been developed that includes an annular sealing lip that extends about a central axis and engages with a shaft. An annular elastomeric base is disposed generally coaxially about and connected to the lip, and has two opposing axial sides and an outer circumferential surface, which is in contact with the inner circumferential surface of a housing. An “expander device” includes first and second clamp members, each disposed against a separate base, inner portion axial side, and couplers that have an end which is coupled with a portion of the first clamp member and an another

Applicant: Entegris Inc, USA Targeted at the semiconductor industry, the aim of this invention is to create a substrate carrier that enables a hermetic seal to be created between the housing assembly and door assembly without the aid of a mechanical “holddown”. A substrate carrier with a low-energy seal is described. In various embodiments, a seal line is created between the housing and door assembly of the substrate carrier – the seal being actuated by a force that is less than the weight of the housing assembly. In some embodiments, the low-energy seal can provide a low threshold pressure-relief mechanism that vents gas from an interior chamber of the substrate carrier when the pressure in the chamber exceeds the ambient pressure. In various embodiments, a venting structure is formed on the low-energy seal to provide pressure relief between the interior chamber and ambient area
