PATENTS Sealing device with metal joint

Pre-manufactured joint elements

Applicants: Xbybus and A. LeClerc, France

Applicant/Inventor: K. Lörd, Sweden This invention is concerned with tiles used in buildings, whether of ceramic, stone, wood, metal or plastic. The tiles are pre-fitted with a sealing joint on the edge. The purpose is to reduce the level of

This patent describes a metal-to-metal seal that is intended to create a high contact stress on the seal ring. The flanges each have a triangular section recess. When the flanges are clamped together the seal is forced into the

wedge shaped groove creating a high contact stress on the pressure side of the seal contact. Patent number: WO 2007/012785 Inventor: A. LeClerc Publication date: 1 February 2007

skill required for fitting and avoid the inconvenience and dirty work associated with sealing compounds for tiles. Patent number: WO 2007/013846 Publication date: 1 February 2007

Mechanical seal Applicant: Wilo AG, Germany This patent describes a face to face dual seal arrangement for pumps. The design has a radial port in the rotary mating ring to provide fluid access to the shaft. The intention is to provide a seal that will continue

to function in the event of fracture of one of the seal faces. Patent number: WO 2007/014666 Inventors: K. Hagen, V. Netsch and B. Huster Publication date: 8 February 2007

Seal ring and method Cross-section of a metal-to-metal flange seal that uses a triangular section groove to create a high sealing contact stress, from patent WO 2007/012785.

Combination valve and pipe joint Applicant: Kitz Corporation, Japan This patent uses the principle employed by some pipe repair clamps to provide a valve that can be directly connected to pipework. The valve can be fitted by securing the clamps that reduce the clamp diameter. Flexible lip type seals are fitted at each end of the clamp/

valve assembly to seal between the valve body and pipes. There are 30 figures of detail design and options in the design. Patent number: WO 2007/013654 Inventors: Y. Maruyama and C. Gomi Publication date: 1 February 2007

Applicant/Inventor: S.W. Putch, USA This patent describes a metal seal ring that is intended as a replacement for typical API Ring Joints. It is designed to overcome problems of joint leakage caused by the metal joint not seating correctly or stress relaxation in the joint after temperature cycles. A metal flexible flange extends radially inward of the seal body has a cantilevered end which provides substantially line contact sealing engagement with the inner groove surface, while a spacing or gap between the flexible

flange and the seal body provides for fluid pressure energization of the flexible flange. The flexible flange is deformed beyond its elastic range when the joint is assembled. The seal ring is able to maintain dynamic sealing integrity even in the event of a fire. Due to plastic yielding and/or telescoping, the shape of the seal is able to change while maintaining high sealing reliability. Patent number: WO 2007/016021 Publication date: 8 February 2007

The cross-section of one of the flexible metal joint seal designs intended as a replacement for a standard ring joint, from patent WO 2007/016021.

Mid-seal for expandable connections

An example of the valve that is based around a pipe clamp to provide simple fitting without flanges or pipe connections, from patent WO 2007/013654.

Applicant: Hydril Co LP, USA An expandable tubular connection for oilfield applications is described. A prescribed clearance is built into the seal section of the threaded joint. When it is subsequently expanded plastic

deformation takes place to create the sealed joint. Patent number: WO 2007/016074 Inventors: R.S. Sivley IV, G.W. Ward and H.A. Reynolds Jr Publication date: 8 February 2007
