Second International Conference on Biotribology (ICoBT)

This special edition of Tribology International contains a selection of reviewed papers which were presented at the 2nd International Conference on Biotribology. The conference was held from 11 to 14 May 2014 in Toronto, Canada and organised by Drs. Philippa Cann and Marc Masen of the Tribology Group at Imperial College. Over 210 delegates from 27 countries attended the conference, which was opened by Dr. Steven Kurtz, Principal and Practice Director at Exponent and Director of the Implant Research Center at Drexel University with his plenary lecture “Future Challenges in the Field of Total Joint Arthroplasty”. This was followed by Technical Sessions on a wide range of topics, including Prosthetic Joints, Bio-Mimetics, Tribology in Nature, Dental Implants, Articular Cartilage, Skin Tribology and Industrial Applications and Challenges. The organisers wish to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the 2nd ICoBT, the Organising Committee, Keynote Speakers, participants and the Elsevier Conference team.
