of this Congress are Dr. G. Pincus of the Warcester Foundation for Biology, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts (U.S.A.) and Professor E. Traof the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Milan.
Plans of the meeting have been develo_ped by an Organizing Committee consisting of: E. Baulieu (France), I. Bush (U.S.A.), E. Diczfalusy (Sweden), J. Fried (U.S.A.), V. James (England), L. Martini (Italy), A. Pecile (Italy) and G. In planning the program the Organizing Committee has been Pincus (U.S.A.). assisted by a Program Committee consisting of 37 American and European members. It has been decided that the following 10 primary topics should be especially advances in methodology and chemistry considered: A) Hormonal steroids: transport and metabolism and their control Bf Steroid hormones: biogenesis, C) Hormonal steroids at cellular level: mode of action, localization, detection, E) The role of etc. D) Newer aspects of the pharmacology of hormonal steroids hormonal steroids in foetal, maternal and perinatal endocrinology Fj Effects of G) Wormonal steroids and hormonal steroids in normal and abnormal metabolism fertility control H) Hormonal steroids and neuroendocrine mechanisms I) Hormonal steroids and isnnune reactions L) Hormonal steroids: comparative endocrinology. The program of the Second Steroid Congress will consist of (1) a series of 20 plenary lectures each of a half hour's duration with two such lectures assigned to each of the 10 major topics: (2) a set of 25 symposia varying in duration from two to three hours with each invited speaker having 20 minutes for delivery and 10 minutes for discussion of his paper: (3) 50 sessions of communicated papers on selected topics of one to one and one-half hours duration at which each speaker will have 10 minutes for presentation of his material and five minutes for its discussion; (4) an as yet undetermined number of communicated papers sessions devoted to miscellaneous topics considered of importance.
