ANNOUNCEMENT SECOND INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON THE STABILITY OF STEEL STRUCTURES (BELGIUM)
This symposium is organized under the joint sponsorship of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (E.C.C.S.), the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (I.A.B.S.E.), the American Column Research Council (C.R.C.) and the Column Research Council of Japan (C.R.C.). It will be held at Lirge (Belgium) on 13th, 14th and 15th April 1977. The aim of this colloquium is to gather experts from various countries of the world interested in problems of the stability of steel structures to discuss scientific bases adopted in the "Recommendations of the E.C.C.S." and in the "Handbook on the stability of steel structures", drawn up by the 9 working groups of the Committee 8 (Instability) of the E.C.C.S. Six sessions will be devoted to recent recommendations and research dealing with axially compressed bars, compressed and bent bars, composite columns, beam supported laterally, plate web girders, box girders, portal frames, shells and lattice structures. The detailed programme, admission forms and any other information concerning the Symposium may be obtained from the Secretary's Office of the 2nd International Symposium on the Stability of Steel Structures, Prof. Ch. Massonnet, Institute of Civil Engineering, Quai Banning 6, 4000 Liege, Belgium.
