The ability to provide strong bonds to untreated polyolefins and other low energy surfaces is claimed for Supastik, the latest addition to the product range of Brattle Adhesive Materials Ltd, Leighton Buzzard, UK. A high adhesion, double-sided, self-adhesive tape, Supastik is said to have good gap-filling properties and high moisture resistance. It has proved effective at adhering to foam, polythene and leather, according to the manufacturers. Supastik has found success in the print finishing trade due to its ability to bond laminated card brochure flaps securely.

Pressure-sensitive tape introduced for bonding at low temperatures A high-strength pressure-sensitive tape that will bond effectively at temperatures down to freezing point is now available with the introduction of VHB 4951 low temperature acrylic foam. Developed by the Industrial Tapes and Adhesives Group of 3M, VHB 4951 is said to provide instantaneous adhesion at

temperatures as low as 0°C. Thus it is expected to find use during winter months in unheated factories and on site, where temperatures may vary considerably. With a peel strength claimed to be four times greater than conventional pressure-sensitive adhesives, the 1 mm thick, white foamed adhesive provides strong bonds to metals, high-surface energy plastics, most paints and non-porous walling systems. No jigs or special tools are required: firm pressure on the tape between two clean surfaces gives a permanent, moisture-proof bond. For further details contact: Mike
