The study was intended to evaluate the technical feasibility in the medium term of an open platform for the integrated execution and management of networked services supporting high level capabilities of mastering of services. The Intelligence Platform has to be defined in such a way that it can support different classes of services and different arrangements of network resources. Its applicability is related to the programmability and mastering

RT-CRM provides remote real-time data reflection abstraction using a simple writer-push model. This writer-push approach enables us to easily decouple the QoS characteristics of the writers from that of the readers. This decoupling is crucial in supporting different kinds of remote data transfer and access needs that one often finds in distributed industrial systems. We will describe the design of RT-CRM, along with a set of easy-to-use API to access the RT-CRM service. We have implemented RT-CRM as part of a larger real-time middleware project, MidART. We address many of the important implementation issues including buffer management and QoS support. We demonstrate the feasibility of RT-CRM through a discussion of our application programming support and preliminary performance data. ŽAuthor abstract . 14 Refs. dynamically adjust to changing resource availability. With a dynamic resource location service as part of the infrastructure, mobile applications are able to re-bind to service providers as they move within the mobile environment and as available services change. As part of the ISOrTEC and ITU-T standardization of the Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing ŽRM-ODP., a Trading function has been identified. It is an important infrastructure service that allows clients to locate services using service types and associated parameters as selection criteria. In order to engineer reliable Open Object-based Distributed systems, it is important to perform modelling and analysis as part of the design process. This paper introduces the reader to the concept of Service Trading and indicates how it may be utilized by applications in a mobile environment. In addition, Coloured Petri Nets are shown to be useful for the modelling and verification of distributed mobile applications. ŽAuthor abstract . 15 Refs. Publication Year: 1997 Abstract: Manufacturing message specification ŽMMS. is an ISO OSI application layer standard designed to support messaging communication to and from programmable manufacturing devices in computer-integrated manufacturing environment. This paper describes a non-proprietary MMS over TCPrIP solution known as an MMS Environment. The MMS Environment consists of an MMS communication systems, a set of MMS-Interface ŽMMS-I. application program interfaces and an MMS Gateway for integrating non-MMS-compatible manufacturing devices into the standard MMS communication environment. The capability and resources of the real devices were modeled as Virtual Manufacturing Devices. The MMS Environment is developed on ISO Development Environment ŽISODE., a non-proprietary implementation of OSI upper layers over TCPrIP. This paper will also describe the implementation of the MMS Gateway and the modeling of a Programmable Logic Controller. ŽAuthor abstract . 17 Refs. Alternating-time logics are natural specification languages for open systems. For example, by preceding the temporal operator ’eventually’ with a selective path quantifier, it can be specified that in the game between the system and the environment, the system has a strategy to reach a certain state. Also, the problems of receptiveness, realizability, and controllability can be formulated as modelchecking problems for alternating-time formulas. Refs.
