used to remove the waste to a central collecting tank, where it is mixed at a ratio of 1:100 with a c o n c e n t r a t e d brine solution. The brine is the by p r o d u c t from t h e i s l a n d ' s reverse o s m o s i s plant, used to desalinate sea water for d r i n k i n g a n d sanitary purposes. The resulting solution is t h e n flocculated to aggregate particulate matter, with the h a r m less liquid residue being p u m p e d offshore, beyond the coral reef s u r r o u n d i n g the island. Disposal is achieved by using one of two - - one duty, one standby -- dry-well m o u n t e d AP100 p u m p s , with the liquid only being discharged when the t a n k reaches a pre d e t e r m i n e d level a n d when the c o n d i t i o n of the tide is suitable to allow the waste to be dispersed efficiently.
