Glen Creston has released an improved Rotor Speed Mill.
Rotor speed mill offers faster grinding FASTER g r i n d i n g of t e s t samples is possible with a n e w Rotor Speed Mill supplied by UK-based c o m p a n y Glen Creston Ltd for grinding soft to m e d i u m h a r d materials. The laboratory-scale machine is suitable for preparing m e t a l powders a n d o t h e r m a t e r i a l s for a r a n g e of analytical tests. The r o t o r speed o n t h e unit can be set between 6000-20 000 r p m a n d t h e speed r e m a i n s c o n s t a n t even a t full load. This is a m a j o r advance on previous models w h e r e rotor s p e e d s was reduced w i t h increasing mill load. A microcontroller m o n i t o r s t h e speed of t h e motor and automatically
maintains the rotor speed at t h e o p t i m u m level appropriate t o t h e individual s a m p l e grinding. The microcontroller n o t only p r o t e c t s t h e mill from overload r e s u l t i n g from operator error, but also m o n i t o r s m a c h i n e functions a n d p r o t e c t s t h e user from injury. T h e m i l l r e m a i n s tightly sealed d u r i n g operation a n d features an automatic interlock. Samples of analytical fineness down t o 40 Ilm can be achieved. T e m p e r a t u r e sensitive m a t e r i a l s c a n be e m b r i t t l e d p r i o r t o grinding by p o u r i n g liquid nitrogen on t h e m a t e r i a l before g r i n d i n g .
