CALENDAR OF SOLID STATE EVENTS The University, Southampton, SO9 5NH, U.K.
9—l2 October 1978 Sixth International Symposium on Boron and Borides, Druzhba, Bulgaria. The Sixth International Symposium on Boron and Borides will be held from October 9—12, 1978 at Druzhba (near Vama, Black Sea Coast), Bulgaria. It is the continuation of the meetings previously held at: Asbury Park (1959), Pans (1964), Warsaw (1968), Tbilisi (1972) and Bordeaux (1975). The Symposium will deal with the following topics: Crystal chemistry of boron and borides; Preparation, crystal growth, analysis and lattice vibrations;

Electronic properties of boron and borides; Chemical bonding and electronic structure; Mechanical properties and applications. The Symposium is organized by the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The chairman of the Symposium is Professor G.
