Solution to dewatering of low to medium volume effluents Hibass Industries h a s launched the Solids Reclamation Device (SRD) Series 1 as a solution to the dewtareing of low to medium volume effluents. The c o m p a n y claims to have considerable success with the device in the paper, t a n n e r y and food industries. Its design allows the treatm e n t of waste to be a viable proposition to companies w h o are unable to consider larger capital e q u i p m e n t due to their m o d e r a t e volumes Based on a horizontal-bed v a c u u m filter, performance is enhanced by a wide range of specially designed filter media. Volumes as large as 6000 1/ h r can be treated, producing a cake suitable for landfill, and a filtrate suitable for recycling In t e s t s c a r r i e d o u t by H i b a s s I n d u s t r i e s , b o t h prim a r y and s e c o n d a r y sludges have been p r o c e s s e d equally well, following chemical treatment. Chemical expertise has been provided by c o m p a n i e s such as Buckman Laboratories, Allied Colloids, Beckart Enviro n m e n t a l and Diversey. These companies all helped with the development of the SRD andare continuing to provide technical back-up. The system is fully automatic and the c o m p a n y claims its performance to be of a very high standard. Hibass Industries are eager to set u p visits and d e m o n s t r a tions at a reference site for c u s t o m e r s w h o would be interested in seeing the syestem in operation.
