Technology Solvay to launch PEKK resin production Solvay reports that it will begin producing polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) polymers in the US early in 2018, to support its composite materials business in meeting growing aerospace demand. ‘This new capacity will address fastgrowing demand for thermoplastic compo-
sites and 3D printing components in aerospace and in other markets,’ said Roger Kearns, member of Solvay’s executive committee. Solvay will commence PEKK production at its site in Georgia, USA under the trade name NovaSpire.
PEKK is used in thermoplastic composites reinforced with carbon fibers and in additive manufacturing in a range of industrial applications.
