INTRODUCTION 1 have included several A f r i c a n dealers on this hst which have not always been responsive to foreign orders This was because some A f r i c a n countries do not have a well organized b o o k trade which has the experience or willingness to respond to mall orders f r o m foreign hbrarles It is often not e c o n o m i c a l for African dealers to send small orders a b r o a d because of high bank c o m m i s s i o n charges on foreign checks and the difficulty of p r e p a r i n g small shipments for overseas mailing However, with patience and e n c o u r a g e m e n t , most of the listed dealers will respond. P r e p a y m e n t is often necessary and sufficient bank c o m m i s s i o n charges must be added to invoices when they have not already been included by the dealer.
