Special issue: Thin film photovoltaic applications (TFPA)

This special issue is devoted to the 1st Photovoltaic Technical Conference Thin film 2010 (PVTC 2010), which was held on May 27 and 28, 2010, in Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France. The aim was to reinforce collaboration between laboratories and industrial partners to strengthen the technical development of new thin-film solar cells generations. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to unite solar cell manufacturers, equipment and material suppliers, and research centers in discussion on leading edge photovoltaic technologies. The 13 papers published in this special issue represent a selected group from 90 total contributions. The papers were selected by the PVTC 2010 scientific committee. All the papers were reviewed according to the

guidelines of the journal. The guest editors would like to thank the reviewers for their valuable support in reviewing the papers. Covered thematics in these selected papers include materials and technologies, characterization, reliability, manufacturing issues and processing. We hope this special issue will contribute to the promotion of relevant research results in the exciting area of thin film solar cells.
