Why did you choose Obstetrics and Gynaecology? Because delivery is the most exciting moment. Who has been your most influential teacher? Nil What are your favourite books and what books are you reading now? ‘‘The Da Vinci Code’’ Dr Ng was born in Hong Kong in 1962 and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong in 1986. He started his basic training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong. After he passed the membership examination of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom, he started his private practice. Three years later, he went to Sheffield, United Kingdom, to receive postgraduate training in reproductive medicine. He returned to join the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong in 1996. No cars in the city What developments in obstetrics and gynaecology do you foresee? Disease can be categorized on a molecular basis and patients can receive more tailor-made treatment.

What do you think is the biggest achievement of our profession the past 20 years? Evidence-based approach to investigation and treatment What is your attitude to artificial abortion? Safe methods should be available and provided. What is the biggest failure in Obstetrics and Gynaecology? We are losing our surgical skills and excellence. Which publication are you most proud of? The first randomised double-blind study on the use of paracervical block in pain relief for oocyte retrieval With whom would you like to change places for one month?
