25 compounds qualified

P

arker has obtained NORSOK M-710 qualification for 25 polymer compounds intended for applications in the oil and gas industry. The range of material compounds for this market includes Nitrile Rubber (NBR), Hydrogenated Nitrile Rubber (HNBR), Carboxylated Nitrile Rubber (XNBR) and Fluorocarbons (FKM, FFKM), Polyetheretheketones (PEEK) and Polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) formulations. Parker seal material compounds developed from these polymer groups have been qualified against NORSOK M-710 rapid gas decompression (RGD) and sour gas test. The testing was conducted by MERL Ltd. new brochure from John Crane emphasises the environmental benefits of the Type 2800X non-contacting dual seals. These seals are particularly suitable for large– bore, non-turbo rotating equipment applications, Sealing Technology January 2008. Figures released by the Fluid Sealing Association also show that this type of seal can reduce the cost of electricity used, and the associated greenhouse gas emissions, by 92% when compared 4

ecmesin has released the Tornado closure torque tester designed to assess the release and engagement torques of screw closures for packaging. Four models are available, with capacities ranging from the 1.5Nm option for delicate assessments, up to 10Nm for more robust applications. The testers provide a pass/fail indication with five programmable memory settings, a facility to characterise the two
