Wednesday, April 17, 7:00- 9:00 p.m. This traditional kick-off to the AAE Annual Session will be a sight to behold! Buses will provide transportation to one of the most beautiful settings Washington, D.C. has to offer; the Mall at the base of the Lincoln Memorial, adjacent to the Reflecting Pool. The splendor of the site is enhanced by the night view of the illuminated U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial with the Vietnam Memorial just a short walk around the Reflecting Pool. A gigantic tent will provide ample room to mix and mingle among friends and sample a sumptuous feast from the many food stations. This special outdoor affair will be an appropriate beginning to set the "Standards" for the days ahead at the 48th Annual Session.

Morse, DDS, PhD, Philadelphia, PA This presentation will discuss the use of dental components as an aging barometer in the practice of dentistry. In addition, application of this information to forensics and anthropology and methods to outlive the pulp will be presented.

VIP Capitol Hill Tour Thursday, April 18, 1:00 p.m - 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 9:00 a.m. - Noon A behind-the-scenes look at perhaps the most dominant building in the city, both architecturally and politically. The Capitol was originally built in 1800 and was designed by William Thornton. The tour will include the central portion of the Capitol - the Rotunda - which lies directly beneath the great iron dome, and where many of our nation's leaders have lain in state, including Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy. Through the Rotunda is the Statuary Hall, which served as the House of Representatives' chamber until 1857. Other historic sights in the Capitol are the old Senate and Supreme Court chambers. This tour will also include various rooms which are not included on the general public tour but which have been especially arranged for the AAE. (Space limited to 40 guests per tour.)

Many of the memorials, museums and other popular attractions are within walking distance of the hotels and have not been included in the tour packages. The tours being offered for AAE Annual Session attendees take into consideration those points of interest which require transportation and/or special arrangements for tour groups. Welcome to Washington Wednesday, April 17, 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 9:00 a.m. - Noon; 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. This driving tour will introduce the city of Washington, D.C., the seat of the government of one of the most powerful nations in history. Beginning at Capitol Hill, the many points of interest will include the Library of Congress, White House, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Georgetown and Embassy Row. The tour guide will provide informative commentary on the historical, the significant and the merely entertaining aspects of the many sights you will pass. State Department Diplomatic Reception Rooms Friday, April 19 & Saturday, April 20, 9:00 a.m. - Noon This specially arranged tour will explore the rooms where the President, Vice President, Secretary of State and other Cabinet members receive and entertain the leading figures of the world - kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers and distinguished foreign and American officials from every field. These rooms are furnished with handsome American antique furniture and examples of the decorative arts and original oil paintings. Official State functions take precedence over any pre-arranged tours of the Diplomatic Reception Rooms. Therefore, there will be on-site registration only for this tour. (Space limited to 45 guests per tour.)

Mount Vernon and drive by Old Town Alexandria Thursday, April 18, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Travel along the banks of the Potomac River to enjoy an intimate glimpse of the 18th century Virginia waiting beyond the gates of Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. See the gardens which are among the most famous colonial gardens in the country. This marks the first time that Mount Vernon has offered special tours of the gardens and grounds in addition to the regular tour of the Mansion. The personal effects of George and Martha Washington will also be on display in the Washington family museum. The return trip along the George Washington Memorial Parkway will wind its way through Alexandria, Virginia, often referred to as George Washington's hometown, and will include a ride by many of the shops, taverns, and other notable places which George and Martha Washington frequented. Mount Vernon with a stop in Old Town Alexandria Thursday, April 18, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. This tour is identical to the previously described tour except that it allows 1-1/2 hours for lunch (on your own) and browsing. Places of interest include The Torpedo Factory Art Center and the Carlyle House. Embassy Row, Washington Cathedral and Woodrow Wilson House for Tea Thursday, April 18 & Friday, April 19, 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Take a ride down Embassy Row, lined with beautiful embassies, chanceries and residences representing nations throughout the world. Next on the agenda is a stop at the Washington Cathedral, better known as the National Cathedral or, its formal name, the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul. One of the outstanding examples of Gothic architecture in the U.S., the Cathedral offers numerous constructional details, including small chapels, wonderful stained glass windows and world famous needlepoint accessories.
