Editorial Spring: A Time for Renewal After a long winter spring is welcome! Spring is a time for renewal. The leaves are buds on the trees. Bulbs of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and narcissus are coming up bringing color to the dull brown landscape. Birds are returning and building nests for their eggs. Spring is a time of renewal for us as well. We plant flowers, tidy up the yard, and clean the house. We get rid of clutter, open the windows to let in fresh air, and wash the windows to better view the unfolding nature. It is also a time when we think about renewing ourselves. Take stock in yourself and decide what needs to be changed and what does not. We also think about our degree of knowledge and commitments. One way to increase our knowledge is by attending conferences and seminars. The American Society for Pain Management Nursing conference is coming soon. An excellent number of symposia, lectures, and chances to network are planned. Take advantage of spring to head to a warm climate and meet with friends. The editorial board of Pain Management Nursing will be meeting at the conference. If you see a member

of the board, please take a moment to comment on the journal. Editors will have PMN Editor written on a ribbon attached to their name badges. What would you like to see added? What topics would you like to see in the journal? Would you like to be an editor? It is a wonderful opportunity to see what topics are on the horizon. It gives you a chance to contribute to American Society for Pain Management Nursing and the nursing profession. The Content Expert Panel met the end of February at the American Nurses Credentialing Center to review and approve 400 test questions. This gives the American Nurses Credentialing Center at least three different forms of the credentialing examination. The next examination will be given in May. I hope more nurses take the examination because this raises awareness of the need for nursing to be involved in pain management. It also gives you special recognition and proof of mastery of the topic. I hope to see many of you in Orlando at the convention (March 31, 2006, to April 2, 2006). See the website (http://www.aspmn.org) for information about the convention.
