Suez Environnement strengthens its management team Suez Environnement has announced a number of key appointments at senior management level. Bernard Guirkinger has been named senior executive vice president of Suez Environnement, in charge of business coordination for the water activities, R&D and sustainable development. He will also be responsible for institutional relations, including European affairs, international agencies and social empowerment.

At Lyonnaise des Eaux, Isabelle Kocher has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO). She will also head up Water’s development in Europe, in particular Germany and Italy. Kocher was previously chief operating officer (COO) of Lyonnaise des Eaux. Degrémont COO Rémi Lantier moves up to be CEO. Thierry Mallet, former CEO of Degrémont, will become senior executive vice president of Suez Environnement, in charge of International, a sector that includes Degrémont, Asia, North

America, Central Europe and the Middle East. He will also be a member of Suez Environnement’s group management committee. In addition to her legal and audit responsibilities, MarieAnge Debon, general secretary of the Suez Environnement group and a member of the management committee, takes over responsibility for the Waste and Water Projects Division, IT, Risk/Investments, Insurance and Procurement Divisions. www.suez-environnement.com

Severn Trent Services buys Spanish water and wastewater solutions company Severn Trent Services has acquired PS Apliclor SA, a supplier of water and wastewater solutions based in Barcelona, Spain. The acquisition of Apliclor is part of Severn Trent Services’ plan to significantly grow its business in Europe. “As Severn Trent Services expands its business throughout Europe, our acquisition of PS Apliclor SA is

a key part of our growth strategy. Apliclor is a strong company that has consistently grown its revenues over the past five years. SPX to divest Filtran SPX Corp is selling its interest in automotive filtration solutions provider Filtran to Madison Capital Partners. Filtran, headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, specializes in automatic transmission filters with manufacturing facilities in Des Plaines; Lugoff, South Carolina; Morsbach, Germany; and Beijing, China. GLV launches takeover bid for Christ Water Canada’s GLV Inc has announced a C$153 million offer for Austrian water treatment technologies company Christ Water Technology AG. Holders of Christ Water Technology shares will be offered €3.35 in cash per share. GLV’s offer has received the support of Christ Water Technology’s largest shareholder, Andreas Weissenbacher, who holds approximately 27% of the shares. GLV plans to close the takeover in November or December 2009. www.glv.com

Daikin to acquire Japanese air filter company Nippon Muki Daikin Industries Ltd has reached a definitive agreement with Nippon Sheet Glass Co Ltd to acquire Japanese air filter manufacturer Nippon Muki Co Ltd for ¥5 billion.

Nippon Muki manufactures and sells air filters and clean room products. The company has more than 300 employees and generated sales of ¥8.8 billion in the year to 31 March 2009.

Daikin Industries already owns American Air Filter International (AAF) which was acquired in 2007 as part of the OYL Group. Founded in 1921, AAF International is headquartered in Louisville,
