The paper de~rlbes the geological amd hydrological conditions at the dam site. The lower part of the abutment is composed of alternations of PBlaeogene sandstone amd shale, the upper part is composed of silt, fine sand, calcareous sand amd limestone. Three mc~lels were used fc~ the soil skeleton: isotroPic linear elasticity, anisotroplc linear elasticity, and isotroplc strain hardening elastoplasticity (a modified Cam Clay model). Comparison with measured results showed that the ar~sotroplc elasticity and elastoplasticity models gave good results.
