Those students in Indiana who aspire to scientific careers are re(":eiving a boost toward that goal from a newly formed state group-the Indiana Science Education Fund. This group is stimulating science. education at all school levels by supporting science fairs. fund officers plan to raise enough money to send two winners apg two teachers ftom. each of the state's 12 rcgipnal s~i~ce fairs to the IntemationalScience Fair each year. Eventually the fund may expand its activities supporting science careers to the awarding of scholarships. Secretary-treasurer for the. new group is Karl L . Kaufman, dean of the Butler University school of pharmacy. Kaufman, who servedin 1960 as general chairman for the .N ationalScience Fair~ rnternatiortal, has just been appointed to the advisory council of the International Science Fair. Leading the Indiana group as chairman. is John A. Scott, publisher of the Lafayette Journal and Courier. Indiana Governor Roger D. Branigin is on the fund's board of directors as are Frank Welcher, president of the Indiana Academy of Science; L. A. Willig, vice president of the Tri-State. College, and Jack Schrey, vice president of the Magnavox. Corporation. Edward S. Brady, U of Southern Calif. professor who authored and directed the series .... -Members of North City PhA (Pa.) are cooperating with Philadelphia department of heal th in program to educate teenagers to dangers of venereal disease. Pamphlets are being distributed through pharmacy health education centers .... -Under new leadership of APHA member Howard Schwartz, former supreme councilor of Rho Pi Phi, the fraternity's foundation has launched program to tell public of pharmacy's professional community role.
