Abstract Allele frequencies for 09 STR autosomal loci (D3S1358, D5S818, D7S820, D8S1179, D13S317, D18S51, D21S11, FGA and VWA) included in the AmpF‘STR1 Profiler PlusTM were obtained from a sample of unrelated individuals from Rio Grande do Sul (southern Brazil). # 2003 Published by Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. Keywords: Population data; STR; Profiler plusTM; Brazilian population
Population: Unrelated healthy volunteers donors from the region. Extraction: Phenol chloroform procedure [1].
Results: See Table 1. Analysis of data: GENEPOP [2].
PCR: 0.125 ng/ml target DNA, according to the manufacturer’s instruction (AmpF‘STR1 Profiler PlusTM, PE Applied Biosystems).
Other remarks: Four rare alleles, which were not detected in a previous study of the Brazilian population [3], were observed: allele 16.1 (locus FGA), allele 15.2 (locus vWA), allele 34.2 (locus D21S11) and allele 15.2 (locus D3S1358).
Typing: Capillary sequencer ABI 310 and reference sequenced ladders (PE Applied Biosystems).
This paper follows the guidelines for publication of population data requested by the journal [4].
