Specimens were sent for microscopic study, and the report indicated odontomes formed of enamel, dentin, and cementum with fibrous tissue, cpithcIial cells, and areas of dystrophic calcificat~ion in bctwcen. he patient was a healthy 14year-old Caucasian girl. She was first seen at the clinic at the University of Montreal and was subsequently referred to the Department of Oral Surgery. Her chief complaint was that the right deciduous canine was still in place. Upon routine radiographic examination, a compound odontoma was found beneath the deciduous canine. Beneath the compound odontoma, the permanent first premolar was found to be blocking the permanent canine from erupting. After taking several other radiographs at different positions, a supernumerary tooth was noted apical to the permanent canine. Treatment consisted of reflection of a flap and removal of the deciduous canine, the first premolar, and the odontoma. A path was then cleared in the bone for the permanent canine to descend. The patient was seen in 6 months for re-evaluation.
